Lol, okay, so this was just going to be a jokey ‘AND THEN: LESBIAN ROMCOM!!!’ one, but then I felt bad so instead I made it more of an actual cast remix. With lesbians.
So instead, what about a Legend of Korra where Korra meets Asami first? Asami runs her over while Korra is wandering around lost, and offers to show her around when she stops to apologise and Korra explains. Korra has no idea that ‘Sato’ is a name to pay attention to and accepts, and then, oh, maybe they go to watch the Fire Ferrets in their match- I mean, Asami is a pro-bending fan, right?
The more I think about this, the more interesting I find it. Because Asami isn’t a bender, and Korra being introduced to Republic City through the specific lens Asami offers- rich in a way Korra isn’t really aware of the concept of, but a non-bender, and perhaps someone who doesn’t remotely agree with the equalists’ methods but understands their aims to a certain degree- that would be neat to see. And I think it would colour a lot of Korra’s development.
In this AU, they’d find out about Hiroshi much more quickly, and would have to go to Lin for help, which would probably result in a slightly less antagonistic start for her and Korra. Asami would end up on Air Temple Island with Korra.
And everything is awesome, and lesbians. The end.
